Monthly Theme/Calendar Pages

Each month presents students with a new 7 Habits theme. Each monthly theme builds on the previous month and keeps habits reinforced. Students are then given strategies for personally connecting that theme to their lives.

Consistent themes throughout grade levels allows schools and districts to build consistent messaging on a month-to-month basis. Younger kids focus on the same messages as older students. This creates a district-wide program.

At the primary level, the goal of the planner is to introduce students to The 7 Habits®, helping them build awareness and vocabulary that will lead them to being able to apply the concepts to themselves and their own lives.

Themes:

• AUGUST: HABITS / Agosto: Habitos – Habits are things we do consistently, things we do on "autopilot."
• SEPTEMBER: PRINCIPLES / Septiembre: Principios – A general rule or fundamental truth; natural law.
• OCTOBER: PARADIGMS / Octubre: Paradigmas – The way we think about and see things.
• NOVEMBER: BE PROACTIVE® / Noviembre: Ser Proactivo® – To think before one acts and take responsibility for the choice made.
• DECEMBER: BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND® / Diciembre: Comenzar con el fin en la mente® – The way we think about and see things.
• JANUARY: PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST® Enero: Poner Primero lo primero® – Choose to do the most important things first. Work first, then play.
• FEBRUARY: RELATIONSHIP BANK ACCOUNT® / Febrero: La Cuenta De Banco De Las Relaciones® – The fine print of friendship.
• MARCH: THINK WIN-WIN® / Marzo: Penzar Ganar-Ganar® – Have an everyone-can-win attitude.
• APRIL: SEEK FIRST TO UNDERSTAND, THEN TO BE UNDERSTOOD® / Abril: Busca Primero Entender, Luego Ser Entendido® – Listen sincerely, communicate effectively.
• MAY: SYNERGIZE® / Mayo: Sinegizar® – Two or more people producing more together than they could have done separately; based on valuing differences.
• JUNE: SHARPEN THE SAW® – A daily process of strengthening or renewing four aspects of oneself: physical, mental, spiritual, and social and emotional.

Elementary-aged students are developing an awareness of cause and effect and how much control they have over their own emotions. Using The 7 Habits® as a foundation in this developmental journey, elementary students are taught to become more aware of how they can impact their own environment -- through the choices they make, how they approach a specific situation and how their attitude proceeds their actions.

Family involvement leads to successful academics.

Each day students are encouraged to apply planning and study strategies to their classes, while using The 7 Habits® to examine their own attitudes and those of peers, which directly impact their own approach.
