The Premier Go Program™ covers various issues students regularly deal with when transitioning out of middle school. There are 34 lessons—each requiring approximately 7-25 minutes to teach each week—that walk students through the principles from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey. The lessons are presented to students through short, engaging video lessons and a corresponding student workbook. The program is easy to implement with the Teacher's Integrated Resource Package (TIRP), which includes scripted lesson plans, classroom DVD with all 34 video lessons, extension activities and an Inservice DVD.

Aligned with the student workbook, lesson plans and video, the lessons are taught through an eight-step process:

  1. Learning Outcome. Students are encouraged to record the learning outcome from the video into their workbook.
  2. Definition. Students record definitions from the video screen into their workbook.
  3. Watch Video.
  4. Video Debrief. Students are given the opportunity to reflect on the issues presented in the video and consider how those issues apply to their own lives.
  5. Discuss & Reflect. Students are encouraged to record their thoughts on the issues and engage in classroom discussion.
  6. Get Set. Students are guided to "Get Set" and apply the lessons to their own lives by recording associated goals in the Think section of the weekly calendar in their student planner.
  7. Journal. Journal entries encourage writing skills and invite students to express their self reflections in writing and consider how the lesson relates to their own lives.
  8. Priorities Quiz. At the end of each lesson, students are encouraged to take the appropriate online quiz to test and reinforce their understanding of the principles and content covered.

Include parents when training students and educators on The 7 Habits® with this condensed workshop. Keep them up-to-date with the culture you are creating in your school, ensure they understand the concepts their students are learning and create the biggest impact by surrounding students with the same principles at school and home.

The 7 Habits®:

  • Habit 1: Be Proactive®. This first step encourages students to think before acting and take responsibility for the choices they make.
  • Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind®. Habit 2 helps students determine what they want before they begin, developing a clear picture of where they want to go in life.
  • Habit 3: Put First Things First®. To ensure important things are prioritized is what students are taught in the third habit. They are also empowered by recognizing the willpower they have to follow through on those things first.
  • Habit 4: Think Win-Win®. Students are taught to want other people to win as well as themselves.
  • Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood®. Ensure students are concentrating on actively listening and truly comprehending what others are saying. Then, they can take the time to share their own thoughts.
  • Habit 6: Synergize®. Students learn that two or more people produce more together than they could have done separately.
  • Habit 7: Sharpen the SAW®. This habit is a daily process of strengthening or renewing the four aspects of our nature: physical, mental, spiritual, and social/emotional.
